  • DAY something of TIFF2010

Woke up and went for lunch, met Lauren (Lee Smith) and her husband Erik (Steingroever). Our sales agent has indicated that the response and the list of folks checking out the film at the P&I screenings has been really good, so hopefully that will translate into some type of distribution situation!

    NIGHT

Went for dinner at Spring Roll (awesome) before the InStyle party. Even though we’re pretty much partied-out, this particular party was pretty great. Had an opportunity to speak with Mike Leigh and his cast from Another Year. I couldn’t help but think about casting my next few films as I took a look around that room. We took off for another party but, once outside, made the (smart) decision to head home for a rare pre-four o’clock bedtime.

I have a couple of meetings, a couple of films, and then it’s back home to Vancouver.

It’s been great to meet so many directors and actors, and watch my friend (and one of the stars of my film) Gil Bellows, as he moves through the festival. Gil, along with being a fantastic actor, is a brilliant producer, and watching him work has been inspirational and instructional. Gil is a genuinely great guy and a great talent.

It’s gone by pretty quick, but it’s been a remarkable experience so far. Hopefully there are a few more interesting moments to come.
