Back to work on the film. Can’t really call it “Life is Still Good” but “Vamlet” might not hit all the bases either? The film is a comedy, but there’s pathos and some complex romantic entanglements in there as well…it’s tough to mix comedy and pathos, I think, but that’s what I tried to do with WHEN LIFE WAS GOOD and that’s what I’m interested in doing again.

    Shot a tough scene tonight.

Casey and Kristine were great (as were Priscilla and Gaelle!), but I didn’t look at the scene (the “scriptment”/outline) before we started (like I always do) and just kind of went in with a “wing it” attitude.

I prefer to look at the scene the night before or the day before, and clarify how it fits into the story, solidify all the beats I need the actors to hit, maybe even think up a few shots! But I just didn’t have time before shooting.

Also, I was amped up on allergy medication (cats), and that always leaves a bit of agitation and chaos in my brain.

I’ve got another really busy day tomorrow, but hopefully I can sit down and consider the scene before we shoot. It’s a big one!
